My new found hobby..

Taking pictures! I've enjoyed doing this for quite some time now but never really had the chance to buy a good camera. Anyhow, now that I have a digital camera along with me, i'll try to show you how I see things my way.=)

My Super Girls!

I was really surprised last night after hearing my 1 and 7 month old baby CJ count from one to ten on her own! She counts slowly from one to nine, shouts on the tenth number and says yeahey at the end! LoL! Hope she gets to enjoy numbers til she gets to school..=))

As for my 2 and 7 month old baby Missy, she is now able to identify colors, numbers, letters of the alphabet, animals.. and a whole lot more. She would even pretend to be a teacher to her baby sister.. It so makes my day when I see my girls play around and enjoy each others company. I could probably say that their educational toys and videos indeed is helping a lot in teaching them these basic things at an early stage.

My girls favorite toys right now are the following :

1. Set of Brainy Baby Board books which I bought from someone selling books at the office2. Fisher Price Telephone which my cousin gave me (thanks to good lovin' relatives!). Quality is great! It has been thrown a lot of times actually but still works like new=))
3. Chicco Talking Cube which I got from ebay about 2 years ago (again another quality toy that never fades) 4. and the Fisher Price Kick and Play Piano (another gift from my cousin. thanks again!)

For working moms and entrepreneurs like me, having these educational stuff are a great help ;-) These are my great finds so be sure to grab one for your baby too!

My CJ now dances, sings, says A-B-C, and 1-2-3 with me=)

I just love the feeling every time we enter our home from a hectic day at work. =) Our girls truly sweeps away all our stress.

Now, it's not only Missy doing the talks but even CJ! CJ always dances to the tunes on the commercials, sings a-b-c and 1-2-3 with you, smiles a lot, and easily mimics what you're saying.=) All this new milestones CJ is able to do was also because of her new nanny who seems so fond to teaching her these songs and dances.

Bye-bye Diapers!

Here is another one of Missy's milestones for age 2. Yesterday, I wasn't able to go to work due to my abdominal pain caused by PMS (I hate it when this happens). The good side of it though was that I got to witness my big girl pee not from her diaper but from her potty trainer:) Now, she not wearing diapers all day except for the night when she's asleep. I honestly did not teach or train her to use her potty that's why I got surprise when I saw her use it. Her nanny said that she saw our neighbor's daughters use their potty trainer when they pee. So maybe that's where she got the idea ..

My little girl knows how to count 1-2-3=)

I was so happy to hear my youngest girl count 2-3 together with me just a few hours ago.=) She does exclude mentioning the number 1 on purpose because she waits for me to say it before she starts counting 2 and 3! lol.. This was her first time to count! Too bad I wasn't able to capture this milestone on our digital camera.. I can still recall my Missy when she did her counting milestone. Like CJ, Missy too started her numbers with two and omitting the number one for reasons I don't know. Hmm.. maybe number one is hard to pronounce for a baby.

Proud Milestones of my daughters as of Today

For the past few days I noticed that my youngest has already started practicing on her jump. She smiles and gets thrilled every time she sees her sister jump up and down. And she looks so cute when she attempts to do it because her feet don’t really get off the ground yet. Lol:) My hubby said that he saw her lift up her feet off the ground a few centimeters high when she attempted to jump from the bed. But I didn’t see it so I won’t count that yet. Haha. Anyway, I hope I get to take a shot of this new milestone that she’s learning within the week.

Here are some funny things that CJ can do at age 1 yr and 1.5months olds:

1. Knows how to bless (part of our Filipino culture, a sign of respect for elders)
2. Dances when you say dance
3. Says up when she tries to stand up
4. Dances and imitates some of our actions when I, her dad, and her sister sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and I have two hands.
5. Brushes her teeth on her own
6. Climbs on the sofa and toy box
7. Playfully turns off the television and laughs or grins when you try to scold her
8. Asks you to carry her on your back by tapping your back when she sees you kneel down.

And here’s what big sister Missy can do at age 2 yrs and 4 months old:

1. Can sing action songs like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star; I have two hands;
2. Can sing A-B-C, not yet perfected but tries her best to finish the tune:)
3. Greets good morning in the morning and good night before going to bed
4. Knows how to say thanks or thank you when given something
5. Knows how to say you’re welcome when you say thank you
6. Enjoys playing with other kids
7. Says hi and hello to everyone she meets (even to strangers!).
8. Answers you with yes, no, and okay.
9. Says I’m sorry when she has a fault
10. Says it’s okay when you say sorry to her or when she sees that you’re sad
11. Interacts and imitates the song or actions she sees on television
12. Knows colors, shapes, and numbers very well
13. Know some of the animals though sometimes she still associates rabbits with cats. Lol:)
14. Forces to wake up her dad when I tell her too:)
15. Enjoys eating solids and seldom requests for milk once she’s asleep

Learning Alphabets, Numbers, Shapes, Colors, and More!

When did your toddler start learning about alphabets, numbers, shapes, colors, and the other stuff which normally is taught during preschool education? This post is not intended to brag about my eldest daughter. But as a mom, it is so much fulfilling to know that your two year old daughter already knows all these basic stuff even without the help of school teachers.

Missy is only two years and a month old. But at her early age she can identify colors such as the ones mentioned below:
  1. Pink (pronounces by her as Ping-t),
  2. Yellow,
  3. Red,
  4. Orange (pronounced by her as Owaynge),
  5. Blue,
  6. White (pronounces by her as Wyt),
  7. Black,
  8. Green, and
  9. Brown (which I heard her say just today as she pointed to a brown colored print on my shirt)
She can also clearly recognize shapes like the heart, circle, triangle (which she nicely pronounces as trayngol), diamond, square, and rectangle.

As for the numbers, she has already started counting from one to three since her first year. But now she is able to unmistakably count alone from one to seven (big thanks to Dora’s The Seven Seas song!).

Hey don’t think that she can already sing the Alphabet Song at this age! She’s not that genius yet! But, what I like about her alphabet is that she can cleanly pronounce each of the letters while I say it to her. And, she knows how to spell her nickname, which she does by reciting each letter M-I-S-S-Y and then ending it will a long shout of Mmmmmissy!

She also knows most of the parts on the face and some body parts too like the ones mentioned below:
  1. Eyes,
  2. Ears,
  3. Nose,
  4. Teeth,
  5. Tongue,
  6. Hair,
  7. Head,
  8. Neck,
  9. Shoulders,
  10. Knees, and
  11. Toes (I’m sure you can already guess what song she can sing with these body parts)

We started inculcating all this basic stuff to her since birth. Pointing to colors on her surroundings and telling her what color it is subconsciously retains this little learning in her mind. Counting numbers while dressing her up is also another technique.

I am also thankful that nowadays we have educational DVDs, educational/musical toys that teaches basic shapes; numbers; and colors (thanks to their Chicco, Fisher Price, and VTEC toys), and hardbound books that helps us in teaching these basic stuff in a more enjoyable way.

CJ can walk!!

I'm soooo happy that my yougest daughter can now walk! She did her first three steps just yesterday, about 2:30 in the afternoon. I will be uploading the video of her first few steps by tomorrow. One good thing about her is that she always attemps to stand up and walk. I don't even have to show her anything (like her favorite toy maybe) to do this! hahaha.. Smart baby=) just like her sister..!
